Grading Cycle 1
- Correct keys for keyboarding, including home keys
- Be able to type without looking at the keyboard
- Keyboard shortcuts for:
- Quitting
- Saving
- How to copy and paste
- Our lab procedures, including the reason for each one
- Be able to locate and be familiar with the Revere Appropriate Use Policy
- How to create a simple presentation in Powerpoint
- Saving documents
- How and where to save your work
- When to use "Save as..." and when to use "Save"
- The difference between Save and Open
- How to give a file a descriptive file name, and the reason for using descriptive file names
- How to save your work on a flash drive and safely remove a flash drive from the computer
- How to tell the difference between files with the same name when saving, and be able to decide when a file should be replaced
- In a web browser,

Grading Cycle 2
Grading Cycle 2 includes everything in Grading Cycle 1 plus:
- Online Research
- at least two ways to narrow your search in a search engine
- at least two ways to determine if a web site might be trustworthy
- why wiki.answers.com, answers.yahoo.com, and similar web sites are not always good sources for serious research
- why Google, Ask, Bing, and other search engines can not be cited as sources
- all of the vocabulary terms on this page

Grading Cycle 3
Grading Cycle 3 includes everything we've done so far plus:
- Spreadsheets, how to:
- create a simple spreadsheet from a blank document
- put borders on cells
- write simple formulas
- use the SUM() and AVERAGE() functions in formulas
- create column, line, and pie charts
- Password protecting Microsoft Office documents
Grading Cycle 4
Word Processing
You should know how to
- properly align text to the center or to the left
- indent properly
- change the typeface and point size
- hide/show the invisibles
- find and remove unwanted tabs, spaces, paragraph endings (the <Enter> key), and page breaks
- choose and modify styles
- use Find and Replace for words, spaces, and invisible characters such as tabs.
- change the margins
- edit headers and footers
Grading Cycle 5
Word Processing
In addition to skills covered in the 4th Grading Cycle you should know how to
- insert, resize, and control text wrap around graphics in a text document
- insert a drop cap
- insert a manual page break
- use a numbered list
- take a screen shot of the full screen or just the active window and paste it into a document
