Students should leave enough room so that adults will be able to walk down the hallway.

After School Hallway Policy

A safe dismissal process is very important to Revere.   Students catching the school bus should report immediately to the parking lot by the temporary buildings and Valley Forge Apt.   Car pool students will be picked up in front of the patio/auditorium area.  Walkers should begin walking immediately.

Student Responsibility
Go to their locker after school and leave the building immediately.
Students should not go back upstairs once they have visited their lockers.

Passing Periods (Back to Top)

Students should use the 5 minute passing period to get to class on time.  Locker stops are only appropriate before, after and during 3 and 8th period. Students may use the 5 minutes to get ID badges or use the restroom; the tardy policy, however, is still in effect during theses times.

Student Responsibility
Students should use the 5 minute passing period responsibly.
Students should not use the 5 minutes to go see the dean.

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices (Back to Top)

Revere will follow the HISD ruling on cell phones and electronic devices. These items are permitted before and after school.  All other times, such devices, should be securely stored in the locker.

Give the electronic device to an adult if requested.

Errands/20-minute Rule (Back to Top)

Revere is committed to student learning.  Therefore, all students should be kept in class whenever possible. Please minimize the number of student errands including restroom visits that you allow to take place from your classroom.  NO ERRANDS should take place within the first 20 minutes or last 20 minutes of class.

Student Responsibility
Use the restroom before class.
Use the locker at the appropriate time only.

Have student agenda for hall pass when necessary.  If a student does not have on a visible student ID badge, that student can not go on an errand.

Teacher’s Assistants/Office Assistants/SAC Assistants/Bathroom Hall Monitors (Back to Top)

This year in order to reduce the number of students in the hallway during class time; the number of student assistants has been drastically reduced. Only 8th grade students with good conduct and at least 6 passing subjects will be chosen to be a student assistant.  Each office will be limited to 2 assistants per period.  This includes SAC.  No teacher assistants will be assigned first semester.  Second semester is still under consideration.  Each bathroom will have bathroom monitors.

Student Responsibility
Wear orange vest that identifies them as a selected helper.
Run errands responsibly.

Work on homework or read when no work has been given by monitor.  Hanging out in the restroom or at another office or with students who are in trouble is not an acceptable way to pass time while waiting for an assignment.

Detention/Time Out/Cafeteria Clean-Up (Back to Top)

Teachers may assign a student up to two 20 minute time outs.  A discipline card should be used to document the reason for the time out.  This card will be given to the deans by the SAC coordinator.

Teachers may also assign students to the school wide detention program for up to 60 minutes. If a teacher assigns detention, he or she is responsible for contacting the parent and giving at least 24 hour notice.  The teacher must also secure the student’s signature on the detention form.  Detention will take place in the cafeteria from 4 – 5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

On occasion students will be assigned cafeteria clean up by the cafeteria monitors.  Students will return to class on time.

Clean up after eating.
Leave all uneaten food in the cafeteria (discourage students for buying food for “later”.

More details are coming.

Requesting Schedule Changes (Back to Top)

Schedule change requests are expected.  All requests can not however be granted immediately or in some cases at all.  Please do send students to office during class time.  Give them a request form and collect the completed form.  Turn in the form at the end of the day.  If a student is missing a class, direct them to the dean’s office.
