What is the grading scale to my class?

Grading scales vary from teacher to teacher. Some teachers use weighted grades (e.g. tests = 40% and class work = 60%) while others use a point scale. Teacher's tell their students at the beginning of the year what scale they are using. Also, the grading scale is declared when viewing grades online.

How often are grades updated?

There are two parts to this answer:

  1. Teacher Part: Teachers post their grades to the school server. They can do this at their convenience. The adminstration has asked that they post grades to the school server at least every 2 weeks. Keep in mind that there is some flexiblity with this. Sometimes a teacher wont have many grades (due to a week of testing) and wont post their grades. Conversly, around the end of the marking period many teachers post their grades every day so students can view what assignments they need to make up.
  2. Webmaster Part: The webmaster takes the grades from the school server and puts them on the internet - making the grades available to the public. He does this at least once a week (usually on Wednesday). However, the frequency of transfering grades from the school server to the internet always increases during progress report time and at the end of the marking period.

What do I do if a teacher hasn't posted their grades (or hasn't posted grades in a long while)?

Feel free to call or email the teacher and inquire about the grade. Sometimes a technical glitch can go undected.

Revere actively encourages open communication of grades and grading procedures between students, parents and teachers.
